As you are preparing for your upcoming move, it’s important to evaluate your move protection options for coverage on the items that will be included in your shipment. While our crews work to ensure the safe delivery of your items, accidents can happen and having the appropriate protections in place will provide you with a peace of mind throughout the relocation process.

Your relocation estimate from ADSI Moving Systems includes two options for move protection. We offer both full-value protection, as well as a per pound/per article protection. When selecting the option that’s best for you here are a few points to consider.

Full-Value Protection

We recommend our full-value protection plan to all of our customers. This option is included as a part of your move estimate and is automatically values at $6 x the weight of your shipment.

As a part of our full-value protection plan, any items lost or damaged during transit are covered. We will repair those items, or replace them if they are non-repairable, up to the maximum dollar amount you declare.

This option also allows you to increase the valuation to a higher dollar amount if you feel you need a higher level of protection for certain items included in your shipment.

60-Cents/lb, Per Article:

This lower level of protection is provided at no additional cost on all of our moves and offers a budget-friendly option for some of our clients. While it does offer some level of protection, this option is considered less than the average value of most household goods.

The valuation is based purely on the weight of the item, for example, an electronic device or piece of office equipment that may have cost $700 but only weighs 10 lbs. will receive a valuation of $3.60 under this protection plan.

High-Value Inventory Declarations

If your shipment contains items of significant value, ie. any items valued at more than $100/pound, you will want to declare those items by listing them on our high-value inventory form before your shipment is loaded.

High-value items may include things like antiques, artwork, electronics and equipment, designer clothes, and collectibles.

How do I know which is right for me?

Choosing the right protection plan can be hard. While the slight cost savings of the baseline protection are appealing to some customers, it’s important to remember that in some case, especially those relocations where items are traveling long distances OR shipments contain items of higher value, the additional cost of full-value-protection is often worth it.

While our team takes extreme care to protect your items throughout the relocation process, having the peace of mind of full-protection is a great option and also gives us the most flexibility to help you resolve issues if they arise.

As you’re making considerations about which protection plan to select, be sure to consider a variety of scenarios and weigh the costs appropriately.
