Team ETG hosts Youth Leadership Augusta

Youth Leadership Augusta held their annual Economic Development Day on Friday, January 12, 2018. Ellefson Transportation Group was proud to host 34 Augusta/Richmond County students and three chaperones as they explored local businesses and the economic impact they are having on our area, which is seeing tremendous growth as a result of the incoming Cyber school and companies such as ADP, Unisys, Textron, and Starbucks. As a part of their development day the students toured the ETG facilities with Jim Thorpe and Jason Grove while having an inside look at our record management, relocation, storage, and shredding operations with the opportunity to be one of the first large groups to tour our brand new warehouse and office facility. “This was a wonderful opportunity for Team ETG to showcase our growth and positive economic impact with engaged young leaders”, said Jim Thorpe – VP of Business Development.  “They asked important questions about our economic growth, building expansions, recycling efforts, and employee count the entire two hour tour – and the downpour of rain didn’t slow them a bit.”

Team ETG was proud to share our story with these area students and, as always, we enjoyed the opportunity to support the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce. Youth Leadership Augusta is a program for High School Juniors in Richmond County that is designed to expose, educate, and motivate potential young leaders and enable them to take active roles in their community.  Youth Leadership is a program of Leadership Augusta, an affiliate of the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce, designed to enhance the civic participation of emerging leaders within the region. Each year Leadership Augusta selects approximately 30-40 individuals in the region to participate in the ten-month program oriented to developing leadership skills, fostering understanding of the major issues facing the region, improving the communications network among leaders of disparate backgrounds and interests, and most important, motivating them to contribute through voluntary participation in civic activities. ETG is proud to have our Vice President of Business Development, Jim Thorpe, currently participating in Leadership Augusta. This program has been a great opportunity for our organization to be hands-on in understanding the growth and development of our area.
